Sponsored by the Holy Quran Center affiliated with the Ministry of Information and Culture in Afghanistan, a plan for inscribing a copy of the holy Quran is now in progress in the country.

Ahlul Bayt News Agency ; This is according to Mohammad Hossein Setiz Bakhtiari, head of the Holy Quran Center who also told that the plan started 3 years ago and is supposed to finish next year.

Setiz Bakhtiari who is doing the calligraphy work himself also added that the work’s illustrations, accents (E’raab) and its computer programs are being performed by members of the center.

“Before starting the project, a meeting was held with the presence of scholars and experts of Islamic calligraphy to make necessary decisions about putting the signs of Waqf (points of stops) and Tajweed. In this copy of the Quran, the verses are in black, accents in azure, and God’s holy names in red.”

He further said that the book is 70cm by 49cm in size and the pages’ ordering corresponds to ‘Osman Taha’ style so that reciters and referees can easily find the number of verses in Quran contests.

Bakhtiari also noted that Azadi Publication Center affiliated with Afghanistan’s Ministry of Information and Culture is going to publish his handwritten copy of the Quran and distribute it in the country.
